Valentine’s Day Bonus

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her. Ephesians 5:25 NKJV

Much is made of this verse, and the preceding one (wives submit…), as making of wives second class citizens. Entire movements have been built on this patriarchal nincompoopery. It does not represent a Biblical Worldview, nor how God intended love to fit in His creation.

Here is Charles H. Spurgeon on how a husband should love his wife and, we submit, vice versa:

  1. With a constant love: “He does not vary in his affection.”
  2. With an enduring love: “It is not mere lip service.”
  3. With a delighted love: “He prizes her.”
