What Is The Frequency Kenneth?

There is a now infamous 1986 mugging in New York’s Central Park, in which, as they beat the victim whose name was Dan, the assailants reportedly kept asking “What is the frequency Kenneth?” Now, it doesn’t matter whether this was a case of imagination, mistaken identity, or addled assailants. It does, however, provide a perfect segue to our question of the day: “Why does it seem like I am not hearing God speak?”

The answer is quite simple. In order to hear from God you need to be on the correct frequency. Or to put it another way, you have to be tuned to the Kingdom frequency. You have to know the sound of His voice.

And how, pray tell, do you get on Kingdom frequency? The tuning forks include faith, immersion in God’s Word, and prayerful listening. Faith in His promises. Regular study of His Word. And making listening part of your prayer life, to wit: “A man prayed, and at first he thought that prayer was talking. But he became more and more quiet until, in the end, he realized prayer is listening.” (Soren Kierkegaard 1813-1855)

The better you come to know God, the clearer you will be able to hear Him.
