Fellowship /1

All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer.” Acts 2:42 NLT

Fellowship, from the Greek word koinōnia, means community, joint participation, companion, partner, or sharer. Biblical fellowship involves the state of being happily related to others in Christ; the rank of being brothers and sisters in the family of God; the condition of harmony that unites us; and the skill of sweet talk and good deeds among us. Only Christians can lay claim to this kind of fellowship, and the most unique and lasting bonds are found in the Body of Christ.

Some Christians try to go to heaven alone, in stoic solitude. But believers are not bears or lions or other animals that wander alone. Those who belong to Christ are sheep. Sheep go in flocks, and so do God’s people. Adapted, Charles H. Spurgeon (1834 – 1892)
