What Now 2 Do: Staying Connected

Today you are challenged to make at least two phone calls – at least one of them to someone you haven’t spoken to in a long time. Use the call to catch up on their lives, to see what help they might need, and to provide some humor.

For many, social isolation is close to being in solitary confinement. Being alone is likely to be much more hazardous to a person’s health than the relatively small possibility of contracting, let alone dying, from coronavirus.

Look for ways to get out of the house and interact with people.  There are many possibilities:

1. Don’t just grocery shop. Intentionally smile at others – the warmth of a smile easily travels six feet. Encourage the cashier who willingly comes to work so that we can continue to have fresh food and supplies.

2. Invite a friend or family member to go for a walk with you in a park. Be reminded of nature – of God’s wonderful creation. Many parks remain open.

3. Visit using Skype, Zoom, FaceTime or some other online tool. Our grandkids are enjoying virtual Zoom playdates with their friends.
