On Grace. And Love.

We love because God first loved us. If we say we love God, but hate others, we are liars. For we cannot love God, whom we have not seen, if we do not love others, whom we have seen. The command that Christ has given us is this: whoever loves God must love others also. 1 John 4:19-21

There will always be someone in your life who will irritate you in the most frustrating manner, pushing buttons that lead to aggravation, fear, and anger. You will be tempted to despise that person, and perhaps even seek revenge. 1 John 4:20 serves as a reminder not to. This person is not your enemy. Rather, they have been allowed into your life so that God can grow godliness within you and strengthen your faith.

Whoever is tempting you to anger or frustration is a person in need of grace. It will take all of your trust in the Father to deal with that person in a godly manner, but you are called to no less.

So, exercise your faith and ask God to give you the power to express patience, forgiveness, and love to that person. The Lord will bless your desire to honor Him with a greater revelation of Himself.

Prayer: Father, please give me Your strength to love and forgive others as You love and have forgiven me. Amen
