Spoiler Alert

And we know that God causes all things to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. Romans 8:28

Really?

Surely this can’t mean the mess you are in right now. Not to mention the mayhem and murder in the world today.

Not so fast.

Think about the cross for a moment. It is unlikely that there has ever been anything more evil and wrong ever committed in the universe. Who would ever have planned Calvary? Who could have seen even one good thing coming from such an atrocity? Only the God who had masterminded the whole story and could see ahead to resurrection. If even the scourge of the cross could not stop Him from completing the plan He had for His Son, how could any difficulty in your life be beyond His desire and ability to complete the plan He has for you?

If you’re a child of God, the ordeal you’re going through, however wrong, unfair, or heartless, will be used in His providence and His skillful hands to take you deeper into His heart, to a place of greater dependence and trust, a place where you are more perfectly refined into the likeness of Christ.

Somewhere truly good.
