Oh That You Would Choose Life

Moses, and later Joshua, two great leaders, beseeching the Isralities to follow God:

“Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!” Moses, circa 1400 BC Deutronomy 30:19 NLT

“But if you are unwilling to obey the Lord, then decide today whom you will obey. Will it be the gods of your ancestors beyond the Euphrates or the gods of the Amorites here in this land? But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua, circa 1380 BC, Joshua 24:15 TLB

This is a choice of eternal significance. Oh that you would choose life!
