I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word. Psalm 119:15–16 ASV
Are you a 350 piece jigsaw person? Or are you a serious jigsaw-puzzler and nothing less than 1,000 pieces will do?
Putting together hundreds of funny-shaped little pieces of cardboard is impossible without all the puzzle pieces facing up. And without careful study of the picture on the cover of the box.
The Bible is, in some ways, a glorious jigsaw puzzle. It can seem like bits and pieces with no meaning in themselves. That’s why we need the Holy Spirit. He turns over the puzzle pieces one by one until they come together and we see Jesus.
In John 16:13, Jesus said the Holy Spirit would “guide you into all truth.” As you read your Bible, ask the Holy Spirit for guidance. The pieces will fit together. The complexity of God’s Word will be revealed and understood as we patiently assemble the full picture and story.
