Say The Word: Repentance

Repentance, noun: a biblical concept of not just feeling sorry, or changing one’s mind, but of a complete turning around, an alteration of the basic motivation and direction of one’s life. Repentance means acknowledging that one has no possible claim upon God, and surrendering oneself to His mercy without reservation, excuse, or attempted justification.

If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we are calling God a liar and showing that his word has no place in our hearts. 1 John 1:8-10

From then on Jesus began to preach, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.” Matthew 4:17 NLT

A repentance action plan:

  • Acknowledge failings (sin).
  • Redirect your path.
  • Turn to God
