If You Knew Jesus Was Returning Tomorrow, What Would You Do Differently Today? /Palm Sunday Version

The King Comes to Jerusalem

The next day the large crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!” And Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, just as it is written, “Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your king is coming, sitting on a donkey’s colt!” His disciples did not understand these things at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written about him and had been done to him. John 12:12-16 ESV (Note 1)

As He approached and saw the city, He wept for it, saying, “If you knew this day what would bring peace -but now it is hidden from your eyes. For the days will come on you when your enemies will build a barricade around you, surround you, and hem you in on every side. They will crush you and your children among you to the ground, and they will not leave one stone on another in your midst, because you did not recognize the time when God visited you.” Luke 19:41-44 CSB

Just as Jesus continued intentionally and steadfastly to the Cross, each of us is called to likewise bear our cross: Defend The Truth. Live The Faith. Advance The Kingdom.

Note 1: This fulfilled the words of the prophet Zechariah from 500 years earlier: “Rejoice, O people of Zion! Shout in triumph, O people of Jerusalem! Look, your king is coming to you. He is righteous and victorious, yet he is humble, riding on a donkey – riding on a donkey’s colt.” Zechariah 9:9 NLT
