Moses presents the stark contrast of the choice before the people. They could choose either life or death. To enjoy their relationship with God, Moses reminds them of their fundamental responsibilities: to love God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments. Moses urges them to choose life and summons heaven and earth to witness the choice.
The choice remains the same today as it was in the time of Moses.
