“Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” Deuteronomy 6:4-9 NLT
God is a generational God. His goal for us throughout history is to advance His kingdom agenda from one generation to the next (Daniel 4:3,34). In God’s relay race, the baton He’s given us to pass on is a living, active faith in Him based on His inerrant Word. His relay race is about legacy, about transferring an essential tool to the next person on the journey. No matter how fast a runners is, if they fail to successfully pass the baton, their efforts will not achieve all they are designed to do. When faith is dropped or not transferred, not only is the expansion of His kingdom compromised, but our lives, families, churches, and communities are deprived of the full experience of His power and His promises.
The good news is that God is the God of second chances. Even if you’ve dropped the baton of living out your faith and passing it on, there’s still hope. Rather than seeing you walk off the track of your life in defeat, God wants to restore you from the failures of yesterday to the victory of tomorrow. You can still cross the finish line of life as a winner. “For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. You will find me when you seek me, if you look for me in earnest.” Jeremiah 29:11-13 TLB
God is going from life to life, willing and ready to pick up the fallen pieces and set them straight again so everyone can roll on to spiritual victory as a kingdom hero.
