Let’s first consider this question. Who Is God?
God is our Sovereign King; the Rock of Israel. He is the Creator of the Universe. God is loving. He is good. He has a plan for us to be with Him for eternity. God is also wrathful. He sets standards for living, judges us accordingly and corrects us when necessary.
We are invited to develop a personal and intimate relationship with God. Like Adam and Eve before The Fall, and Moses in The Exodus, we are invited to be in fellowship with God.
Contrast and compare God to a buddy. A buddy is a faithful friend. Someone we spend time with, laugh with, dream with, cry with, and simply share life with.
God can be a buddy. But He is so much more. A buddy, however, cannot replace God.
