Total Antivirus Protection

Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind: be sober, and trust perfectly on that grace that is brought unto you in the revelation of Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 1:13 1599 Geneva Bible

Gird up the loins of your mind. Peter here is using a metaphor of a runner who tucks up the loose ends of his hanging clothes into his belt so that they do not hinder his running. He is telling us that if we don’t correct those parts of our thinking that we know are wrong, grab hold of all those dangling areas in our thinking and put them out of the way, then we are choosing to permit things to exist in our lives that will hinder our steps and slow us down in our race. In our ability to successfully walk with God.

Most of us would not think of running our computers without a firewall and an antivirus app. The Word of God, illumined by The Holy Spirit, is the firewall and antivirus app of our minds and our lives.

If we want to be successful in our spiritual lives and truly walk with God, then we must start by dealing with the “loins of our minds.” We must seek to deal with all the loose ends in our thinking that haven’t yet been submitted to the Word of God or surrendered to the Holy Spirit’s power.
