Divine Direction 1: God, The Guide Of His Saints

Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory. Psalm 73:24 KJV

Man is not intended for earth. He is only a pilgrim through it to eternal happiness. This he seeks for, but to gain it man needs a guide. And this guide must be well chosen. The guide must have experience, foresight, acquaintance with The Way, prudence, might, fidelity, ability to go all the way. Many guides men choose are useless. Guide Passion. Guide Reason is often a self-conceited fool. Guide Priest is an imposter. Guide Philosopher. Guide Worldly Morality. (Note 1)

God is the only guide who we can rely upon. He has eternal experience, omniscience, prudence, and faithfulness. Heaven belongs to Him, and He will give admittance.

Adapted, “The Lost Sermons of C. H. Spurgeon: His Earliest Outlines and Sermons, 1851 and 1854″; Charles Spurgeon (1834 – 1892)

Note 1: There are others. Today we might add Guide Government to the list.
