May The Lord Make His Face To Shine Upon You

The LORD bless you and keep you. The LORD make His face to shine upon you, and be gracious unto you. The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace. Numbers 6:24-26

Among the many things God imparted to Moses on the mountain is found this blessing for the priests to pronounce over the people on behalf of God. The implication being that if the Israelites followed God’s ordinances they would have His divine blessing and favor.

This blessing is echoed in Paul’s New Testament letter to the Believers in Corinth. “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you.” 2 Corinthians 13:13 CSB

On this Sabbath these words are a benediction to remember and reflect upon. They mean the same as when God uttered them to Moses. Where there is obedient and holy living, there will be the presence of a blessing God. Start with church this morning.
