Be Still

The LORD is fighting for you! So be still!” Exodus 14:14 GW

The Egyptian army was closing in. The Israelis, fleeing enslavement, found themselves trapped between the pursuing Egyptian army and the Red Sea. Panic was setting in. Fear was creating chaos. In that moment, Moses instructed the people to be still and see what the LORD would do (v13). The people didn’t have to be still for long. God told them when it was time to start moving, and what to do. He parted the Red Sea and the Israelis escaped (v15-16).

Be still. This goes against our instincts, and may even seem impossible. But God. This is not about being physically still, but rather about trusting God in all circumstances. “Be still, and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10a ESV
