Obedience: God’s Purpose or Mine?

We might think that if we are obedient to God, this will lead to significant success. But that is not God’s purpose. God’s purpose is that we be fully surrendered and dependent on Him. And that we turn to him to help us navigate the storms of life. His purpose is achieved in us through the journey, not the goal.

His desire is that we see Him “walking on the sea” with no shore or goal in sight (Mark 6:49). And to simply have the absolute certainty that everything is alright. Even when storms rage we can depend on Jesus, who can walk on any turbulent sea.

Sufficient for the day is its own trouble, without adding fixation on a particular finish. Moment by moment obedience is the goal.
