Lest There Be Any Confusion

Editor’s Note: This @whatnow2do blog is “a memo to self.” Each post resonates into my sinful life. Into my walk on the journey of spiritual formation. As such, original revelation and content provide the greatest joy and growth.

Having said that, sometimes a word comes serendipitously (see last week’s post on serendipity here). Such is today’s post. It is the March 7 entry from Anne Graham Lotz’s devotional, Fixing My Eyes On Jesus. It spoke to me. It is posted here in its full unedited form:

I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6 NKJV

Jesus is the truth regardless of culture, age, nationality, generation, heritage, gender, color, or language. We must come to God through Him, or we don’t come at all. The Bible says, “God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12 NLT).

Think of a wartime paratrooper dropped into the jungle. He thinks he knows the way; but once he lands on the jungle floor, he becomes lost. But then a native guide appears amid the confusing undergrowth, beckons to him, and leads him safely to his base. The guide became the man’s way home.

Jesus is God’s Guide ready to lead lost sinners safely home. But if you refuse to acknowledge that you are lost and need a guide, you’ll never accept God’s way. If you resent the fact that there is only one way, you will never follow God’s Guide. If you insist on your own way, you will remain lost . . . forever.

Stop refusing the way, resenting the way, resisting the way . . . and just follow God’s Guide home!
