Onward Christian Soldiers

Onward Christian soldiers, marching as to war;
with the cross of Jesus, going on before.
Christ the Royal Master, leads against the foe.
Forward into battle, see His banners go.

Onward Christian Soldiers, Sabine Baring-Gould (1865), with music by Arthur Sullivan (1871)

Called To Influence And Occupy

Our Country is a mess.  The World is a mess.  Abortion. Idolatry. Licentiousness. Sin appears to have the winning hand.

What now 2 do?

Some advocate for withdrawing from the world into a holy huddle, and just waiting for Christ’s return, which they posit is obviously coming at any moment.

We don’t believe that to be Biblical. We have been freed from the bondage of sin to serve Christ. Perhaps  William Barkley (1907 – 1978),  the controversial Scottish theologian and educator,  put it best when he said “The principle of the Christian life is not escape, but conquest.”

God has not called us into escape. He has called us to conquest. To go into all the World.  To be salt and light. To influence and occupy every square inch of His Creation until the moment of Christ’s return.

Let’s roll.
