The Foolishness of Pride

Think again, you fools! When will you finally catch on? Do you suppose the God who makes ears is deaf? That the one who formed your eyes is blind? He punishes the nations. He knows everything; doesn’t He also know what you are doing? Won’t He also punish you? The Lord knows the thoughts of man, that they are vanity. Psalm 94:8-11, adapted.

Of all the character traits of man, pride is perhaps the one God hates most. That we believe we know better. That we think we can be our own God. It follows that God loves humility, the antithesis of pride.

What now 2 do? “The Lord has told us what is good. To walk in humble fellowship with Him and live in steadfast righteousness and love toward others.” (The Prophet Micah, circa 700 BC, Micah 6:8).
